A Full Review of The Rebound Range From Tbh Skincare & Hannah Collingwood English

Image: Rebound range

I first found out about TBH Skincare when I was frantically searching for an answer on how to calm down my acne and my irritated, impaired skin barrier.

It seems we all know about acne and that it’s a condition almost everyone goes through once in their lives- whether briefly or ongoing.

Just like how acne can impact any skin type and tone, a compromised skin barrier can happen to almost everyone, and very little people know about it.

Most of the time, when your skin is acting up: You’ve probably hurt your skin barrier.

What is The “Skin Barrier”?

Image: Skin. Canva

The Skin barrier, also known as the lipid barrier / skin’s moisture barrier, is our body’s first line of defence against the pollutants in the environment.

It’s similar to how cling wrap protects food. The cling wrap makes sure nothing from the outside environment can impact the food, and makes sure things like the dust and dirt don’t fall into our meal.

Beyond protecting from outside grossness, the cling wrap also makes sure our meal doesn’t dry out in hot or cool air.

Similarly, our skin barrier helps protect the skin by keeping the water in and pollutants out.

Your skin barrier has a few functions:

  • It acts like your body’s personal shield, fending off things like pollution, toxins, and UV rays.

  • It locks in water, keeping your skin plump and hydrated from inside out.

  • It’s basically the delivery system, making sure your skin gets all the ingredients it needs skincare wise.

What Can Cause a Damaged Barrier?

While there are many factors that can compromise our barrier, here are few that are related to skincare and/or we are more prone to doing them. They’re as follows:

  • Over exfoliation or overuse of actives in our skincare

  • Using harsh scrubs or similar facial devices (Who remembers that Clarisonic era?)

  • Hot and steamy showers (we all are guilty of this!)

  • Sunbathing and/or long exposure to sun

  • Not taking care of your skin

How do we Know we Have a Damaged Skin Barrier?

A few signs of a damage skin barrier are as follows:

  • Skin feels ‘tight’ and less elastic

  • Flaky, dry skin

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Water loss (a.k.a trans-epidermal water loss – moisture escaping from the skin into the surroundings)

Luckily, thanks to science and technology, we now have solutions to almost every problem in this world including a damaged skin barrier.

TBH Skincare being innovative as usual, collaborated with Hannah for all the right skin loving reasons to create the now extended Rebound Range.

TBH Skincare is known for their ground-breaking formula, The Biofilm Hack, for tackling acne.

Acne prone skin needs all the barrier repair it can get, but can’t opt for some of the heavier textures barrier repair products often offer.

The Rebound Range is carefully formulated with each ingredient designed to tackle and solve all skin barrier problems, keeping blemish prone babes in mind.

The range offers calming and soothing in the short term, but also provides ongoing, long term barrier support and repair.

A Quick Rundown of The Range:

  • Who is it for? – All skin types can benefit, however, people specifically with compromised skin barriers, and sensitive skin might find the most relief (plus, anyone with skin).

  • Where does the range fit in my routine? – The range is designed to suit your AM/PM needs, both.

  • How many products are there in the range? – There are 4 products, The OG Rebound serum, The Rebound Cica Toner, The Rebound One Night Stand Sleeping Mask, and the Rebound lip treatment.

  • Is it expensive? – The range is priced very fairly for the soothing actives it offers. Pricing varies per product, ranging from $20 AUD to $50 AUD. I mostly buy mine during sales.

  • Do I need to have a damaged barrier to use this range? - No! Anyone can use this range, and your skin barrier will still benefit, damaged or not.

  • Where is it available to shop? – You can find the range on TBH Skincare’s official website tbhskincare.com , or from your local Priceline.

My Review on The Rebound Range

Now that we have the its and bits out of the way, let me give you my personal reviews on the range.

The Rebound Serum

Review:

  • The OG serum that took the Aussie beauty world by storm. People were super excited for this one! The serum was the first product in the range, and it did not disappoint.

  • I gave in to the hype and I genuinely fell in love with this serum. It has become a staple in my routine, and I use it every night without fail, including sometimes in the AM. I’m on my 3rd or 4th bottle. I can’t even recall how many times I’ve stocked this up.

  • This visibly calms my redness and my active acne making my complexion look a lot more even. My skin looks much plumper.

  • With long-term use of this product, my skin barrier has improved. My skin is not sensitised easily, and it handles active ingredients a lot better.

  • A great multi-tasker, think of this as your hydration serum, your niacinamide serum and your barrier support serum in one.

Texture: A gel-like consistency that dries down beautifully. Feels slightly tacky but that goes away instantly.

Hero ingredients: Ceramides, Glycerin, Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide, Panthenol, Oat Extract, Centella, Green Tea, Copper Tripeptide-1 (Peptides)

Price: $49.95 AUD

Rebound Skin Milk Activated Cica Toner

Review:

  • This hydrating, milky toner is part of the extended Rebound Range which was recently launched. After the Rebound Serum, this has been my second favourite to use, and I have been reaching out for it every day.

  • Apart from nourishing my skin, it also visibly reduces the redness on my cheeks and my dull, dehydrated skin feels rejuvenated after using this.

  • It comes in a pump bottle which I personally love. It’s rare to find a pump bottle for toners/essences so extra brownie points to TBH Skincare for being so thoughtful.

  • Moreover, the packaging is extremely adorable and colourful, the roundness of the cap and the bottle, it  just looks too cute on my shelf!

Texture: To my surprise, this isn’t extremely runny.

It has a bit more body than your usual toners, and it dispenses out as a white, silky liquid that absorbs instantly into the skin leaving a slight dewy finish.

Plus, It’s not sticky at all!

Hero Ingredients: Cica Madecassoside, Bisabolol, Ginger Root Extract, Ceramides, D-Panthenol

Price: $29.95 AUD

Rebound One Night Stand Soothing Gel Facial Mask

Review:

  • Think of this as one step to skin as smooth as a baby’s bum.

  • This overnight mask is truly unique. As per instructions, I used it as the last step in my PM routine whenever my skin needed a little TLC and the results? Smooth, baby-like skin that looks calmer, smoother and overall, more even-toned.

  • I was a little sceptical at first that it might feel like a traditional mask, how can I sleep with it on, but to my surprise it did not stain my pillows at all!

  • It’s not important to use it as an overnight mask, you can use this as a flash facial, where you apply it for 15 minutes and rinse it off too. Ideal to soothe your angry skin barrier.

Texture: A thick translucent gel that spreads more like a balmy moisturiser and absorbs completely into the skin.

Hero Ingredients: Cica, Panthenol, Antioxidants, Skullcap Mushroom, Colloidal Oatmeal, Licorice & Ceramides

Price: $44.95 AUD

Rebound Stay The Night Tri-Peptide Lip Treatment

Review:

  • Imagine barrier repair, but for your lips. My lips don’t get as dry or chapped however I did enjoy how extra smooth and plump my lips felt after using this.

  • The applicator is what I loved the most about it, it gives a cooling sensation while applying the treatment to your lips, and it feels very luxurious and soothing.

  • However, I think this product can be improved. Firstly, it doesn’t have a tint which I personally enjoy in my lip balms/treatments since I don’t have much colour on my lips.
If I want to use it while I’m out and about, I’d have to fill my lips in with a liner or a lip tint before topping it up with the lip treatment which is too much hassle for me.

  • Secondly, I wish this had some sort of scent to it.
This isn’t a bad thing especially for people who are sensitive to fragrance, but right now, this product smells like a ‘treatment’, which takes away points from the whole experience of using it. This is a fragrance free product.

Texture: The texture is surprisingly thin for a product in this category.

A thin, balmy formula that almost feels like lip oil and is not sticky at all.

A little does go a long way, however since it’s thin, you might end up reapplying more than usual.

Hero Ingredients: Hyaluronic Acid, Tripeptides (Tripeptide-1 Palmitoyl, Tripeptide-38), Portulaca Pilosa plant extract, Antioxidants, Jojoba oil, Ceramides and Squalane

Price: $18.95 AUD

Summing it up

If you are confused where to start from, I will highly recommend the Rebound Serum and the Skin Milk Activated Cica Toner as they will truly strengthen your skin barrier and visibly soothe your skin not just instantly, but even in the long run if you’re consistently using them.

Fret not, you really can’t go wrong with any of the TBH products as they’re very thoughtfully designed, and the majority loves it because they just work.

Well, if you’ve made it this far, thank you so much for reading this article.
